After 6 years, it's always challenging to find a new subject to cover creatively in Schoolovision, but there is no doubt that you have done it very well indeed.
Great acting from the teacher too... do you smile like this every day Steffen? ;-)
Hello dear friends from Germany, I'm thinking seriously to work for a while at your school. Really nice activities. Nice video, music and voices. Congratulations!
The song has a nice melody and the singing is really good!
If the video tells us how a normal day at Frei Schule Kassel is, than I would like to go to this school too! Having breakfast at school isn't common here in Belgium and staying at school in the afternoon only if you want isn't either! I think the idea for this song and video is very original!
And a great cameo, Steffen! No overacting involved, I think!
Hi, Germany! If there´s one place left at your school, please let me know, Steffen!! Every picture in your video let us feel good atmosphere. And the song is as every year something very special and we like it a lot :) Good luck!
To the teacher and lovely kids. You are very creative and very talented, you are naturally actors. I like your bubble-clouds of thoughts, your colorful classroom, the variety of activities, and I really appreciate sharing with us. I got some wonderful ideas to adopt to my school: the bicycles and outstanding play-ground, the dinning room or even the idea to eat under a tree:).GOOD LUCK!MEIRAV.ISRAEL
I loved your video. A great idea to show what your normal school day is like. Your school is a very energetic place, isn't it? All the best from Slovenia.
Many thanks for all the wonderful comments! We are really happy about your positive feedback. To all those who mentioned that they'd love to join us here: You're most welcome to visit us. Do come and see for yourselves what our school is like (maybe we cheated a little with the proportions of lessons vs. free time but it was the kids themselves who made the lyrics with Tim).
Rita, vielen Dank auch für deinen Kommentar! Ich bin sehr froh, euch als neue Schoolovision-Partner gefunden zu haben. Und ich bin beeindruckt von deinem Deutsch. Danke für deinen schönen Kommentar!
Schoolovision has won 1st prize in several International Awards. In its first year, it was triumphant in the Global Junior Challenge, the eLearning Awards and the eTwinning Awards in 2010. In 2012 it was successful at the Medea Awards. In 2013, the project was awarded a special recognition for outstanding collaboration over the period 2009 - 2013 at the eTwinning European Conference in Lisbon.
It's difficult to believe, but we are now into the 6th year of Schoolovision, the project having been created early in 2009, as an idea to link primary schools from across Europe using the eTwinning platform in a project based on the Eurovision Song Contest.
Each participating country has the chance to choose a song, sing it and video it, before uploading it to the blog by the cut-off date, usually around 1 week before the real ESC. Then, all the pupils in all the participating countries watch and evaluate all the songs, before voting for their own personal favourite, usually the day before the real ESC. For this extra special live vote, we use the webcam conferencing tool, FlashMeeting.
Then, in 2011, our previous winners ZS Husova from Brno in the Czech Republic came roaring back, winning the 3rd edition of Schoolovision in fine style, with their outstanding entry, Jaro.
Then, in 2012, we expanded eastwards, with new entries from several countries, including Ukraine, Russia, Georgia and Azerbaijan which helped take our total number of partners to 38, our largest to date. The standards also went up even further, and incredibly, all the top 3 entries came from new entrant schools! The winners were Hoknes barneskole, from Namsos in Norway, with Ærlighet varer lengst, a quite brilliant entry!
In 2013, our expansion east was recognised by eTwinning, and we were awarded a very special certificate for our "outstanding collaboration and contribution to eTwinning" at the European Conference in Lisbon. Two months later, and one of our newest countries, Israel, triumphed with an equally outstanding entry, their very own tribute to the only Israeli astronaut, Ilan Ramon, lost in the 2003 Columbia space shuttle disaster.
So, in 2014, what can we expect in the following few months? Lots of quite wonderful entries!
